This literary festival will add to a bustling calendar of cultural events taking place in Harlem. We look forward to spotlighting talented literary works from the US and abroad.

 

EXHIBITOR/VENDOR FAQ

What do I need to know about setting up?


8:30 AM - Load-in/Set-up begins For safety reasons, vehicles will not be permitted to enter the street. Please prepare to bring your hand truck/dolly to deliver your items to your tent. After you check in, head to your preset tent. Each exhibitor/vendor set-up includes: (1) 10' X 10' tented space, (1) 8' table, (2) chairs, (1) booth sign. These items will be preset prior to your arrival. (Excludes Food Truck Vendors) Visual presentation - We encourage you to decorate your booth in a professional and festive style. All signs and décor are to have a professional presentation. - All tables must be covered with fabric table cloths. No Exceptions. - Items like boxes, bags, rubbish, food items are NOT to be visible. Bring necessities to secure your items and ensure a successful booth set up. (scissors, tape, paper weights, fabric to hide boxes/inventory, frames for signs, pens) Set-up is it to be complete by 9:50 AM Sharp.




Where do I Check-In?


Check-in at the Registration Tent located at the corner of 135th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard.




Will my tent be setup for me before I arrive?


YES! After you check in, head to your preset tent. Each exhibitor/vendor set-up includes: (1) 10' X 10' tented space, (1) 8' table, (2) chairs, (1) booth sign. These items will be pre-set prior to your arrival. Does not apply to food trucks.




What if it rains?


This event will proceed, rain or shine. Please prepare for the weather variables. Bring necessities to protect your inventory.




What time is breakdown?


Breakdown begins at 5:00 PM You will not be able to breakdown prior to the end of the event Please bring garbage bags and bag-up any trash produced by your booth For safety reasons, vehicles will not be permitted to enter the street. Please prepare to bring your hand truck/dolly to deliver your items to your tent.

Saturday, June 20, 2020 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM




Where will the festival be held?


​We will host programs in the Schomburg Center For Research In Black Culture at 515 Malcolm X Blvd and host an OUTDOOR festival on 135th STREET - From Malcolm X Blvd to Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.




What time is load in and breakdown for exhibitors?


8:00 AM - Load-in (7:30 AM for Food Trucks) 6:00 PM - Breakdown




Is this the second Schomburg Center Literary Festival?


Yes it is! The inaugural Schomburg Center Literary Festival was held, last year, on June 29, 2019. This annual tradition is brought to you by the producers of year round public programs at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Revisit those programs here on our Livestream page.




How many people are expected?


This is the first year of the Schomburg Center Literary Festival. Below are our attendance figures from another annual event we host, the Black Comic Book Festival. The numbers you see for Friday and Saturday at Countee Cullen would indicate youth attendance.


Black Comic Book Festival 2019 counts are as follows:
· Friday @ the Schomburg Center - 2170 total count of patrons
· Saturday @ the Schomburg Center - 4261 total count of patrons
· Saturday @ Countee Cullen's - 691patrons




How big is one (1) booth?


One booth is 10' x 10' Each booth will include: (1) 10' X 10' tented space, (1) 8' table, (2) chairs, (1) booth sign. These items will be set prior to your arrival. Does not apply to food trucks.




Is Wifi available?


No. Please bring whatever is needed to manage your own Wifi capabilities.
